Cards for Challenges

To make these cards, I stamped leave images on a full sized whisper whte cardstock with four different colors. I heat embossed the accent images with gold embossing powder.  I sponged all over the cardstock in four different colors of shading.  It is fun technique to try and easy to create several cards in different layouts at once.  Those cards that I didn't add sentiments for now can be done with any other sentiments later such as thinking of you, get well wishes, etc..  I am very happy with how it turned out.  It looks pretttier in person.

An inspiration to share: Daddy is thinking of them 

My husband has been on his this deployment in Iraq since October of 2009 (Army and his 4th deployment). He is due home in Feb 2011. He has been writing home a lot on the Operation Write Home cards and for this, I thank you!

We have 6 young children and they LOVE receiving these special hand made cards! It is such a wonderful way for the children to know that Daddy is thinking of them, and it encourages the children to write back! AWESOME!

Please keep this program going, it is a huge success and morale builder!

3 cards for OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #41

Wow.... this week went so fast. I enjoyed everyday.  It is so thankful for things what I can do that I like to do.  Since I started writing "Dear Hero, Thank you" cards every morning, I aware of it more and deeper in every moment. 

This morning, I made three cards to enter the OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #41 before the time runs out.  I found myself that enjoy creating different theme of cards with the same sketch.

For the focal image background:

I inked on my grid lined acrylic block and stamped on the whisper white.

Stamped a sentiment block stamp in the center.

Stamped a leaf stamp with watermark inkpad and embossed in Gold.

I sponged the edges and the center with combination of four colors.

It's a fun technique to try.

Operation Write Home Cardmaking Day - Oct. 24, 2010

It was our 5th Operation Write Home Cardmaking Day at Elk Grove Grocery Outlet Community Room. Although it was rainy day, we have made it.  Kathy, Jordan, Karen, Allison, Janet Q., Donna A., Carole M., Caro Lou and myself made 104 cards today and wrote 7 of Hero mails.  Thanks to ladies and gentleman!   It was a very thankful day.  I could tell that everyone was there for making cards for our heroes from the heart. What a privilege that we have!

This is a box of cards that will be sent to Sandy tomorrow.  I included all the cards that I made since last month and Hero mails, too.  They are checked one by one, stamped or labeled the Operation Write Home logo on the back of cards, and tucked them into envelopes.  I have a separate package for Dixie as I promised that I will send her some Hero mails.

These are cards that Jordan, 4th Grade, made today.  We went to JoAnn store to get some supplies and he picked up some stickers and made two cards out of them.  He even inked the edges with sponge. And he cut, punched out and made a snowman card by himself (with a little bit of Caro Lou's coach!  She is so sweet.).  I think Jordan can enter the JoAnn's contest with one of his cards. 

This is a coloring page that I made with the digital image from Designed 2 Delights by Faith.  Allison, 3rd Grade, colored it and wrote her message to a hero.  How cute it is!

Cards for OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #39

I made the following cards for Operation Write Home S&S Sketch Challenge #39.

I played along with one of Basic Grey clear stamp sets that I received yesterday from Ecletic Paperie for Operation Write Home Birthday Bash challenge. It was a full box of goodies as you can see in this photo. How nice of them! How lucky I am!  Thanks so much.

Here is the sketch #39.  I turned it for the first two cards.  For the last one, I tied the ribbon across the three panels and added the sentiment on top of them. Colored cardstock, embossing folder and the sentiment stamp are Stampin' Up products.  Sponged the edges with Tim Holtz's Distress Inkpad.

 

This is the stamp set that I used for my cards today. 

I made a simple card and wanted to share.  You can see that  how easy to create a card with one set of stamp that comes together.
