5 Birthday Cards

Whew....  completed these sample cards for Cardmaking Class at work tomorrow including all the card kits for 16 people. I did the most part of preparation: planning, designing, cutting, punching, dry embossing, heat embossing, stamping, coloring, etc.. Hope they can make them all during one hour lunch time.

I made a couple of each card kits extra for my next OWH cards shipment.

OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #52 - birthday wishes

I was playing with my new Cricut cartridge "Mother's Day Bouquet" all day.  I cut out a few different shape of flowers with flowery patterned papers and it turned out beautifully, I think.  I love how it worked.

OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #52 - birthday wishes
For this card, I added green leaves behind the flower by cutting another shape of flower.
I used MS border punch - fence, Cuttlebug embossing folder and SU Real Red cardstock.

Challenges:

2 Sisters: #22 - Flowers
Fairy Fun Fridays: #44 - Happy Birthday

thinking of you card for D.

I made this A9 (5 1/2" x 8.5") size card for everyone at work to write get well wishes for D. who had a surgery last week.  I used the cardstock, emobssing folder, stamp set and the sentiment set that are Stampin' Up! products. To make the sun, I cut out a circle from my scrap paper and sponged inside of the circle in gentle circular motion so that I could get soft touch.  I added tiny twinkles in the center of flowers.  Hoepe he will like this card and get well soon.

Operation Write Home Cardmaking Party Sunday, January 9, 2011

It was our first Operation Write Home Cardmaking Party Meetup in 2011.  Thanks to Kathy, Ophilea (Kathy's friend), Carole, Janet Q., Donna A., Shannon (new cardmaker who came with Gypsy!), Joan, Caro Lou, Frances (Caro Lou's friend) and Janet S. for participating in supporting Operation Write Home helping our heroes keep in touch with their family and friends. It was very productive and creative day. We made total 108 cards (including my sample cards) of Happy Birthday, missing you, thinking of you, sending you Butterfly kisses and love. I took the photos with my new camera and didn't come out well. I was not satisfied with it however, I am very tired now so I will keep that way. All the cards are beautiful in person.

* Kathy did the edge of this focal image with her marker's brush tip.
It turned out very nice looking.

* Not so good photo! These cards are prettier in person.

* Oh, I love this little bird - i-miss-you- that I used
the digital image from Mel Jen's Design.

* Janet Q. designed this card. So cute! I need to add a sentiment.

* Donna A. designed this card after playing with some pre-cut papers with Janet Q. and Carole.

* This is the one that Shannon cut out the frames with her Gypsy.
Isn't it beautiful?  She made it so easy.

Great Tool to organize an Operation Write Home Party

I learned about this web site: Meetup.com through one of OWH Cardmakers and was so excited to organize an Operation Write Home Meetup Group.  Since I started a group on January 2, 2011, I already have two new cardmakers signed up (one of them is a mother of two military children) and they both are coming to a party tomorrow.

This web site provides a lot of promotional supports. I created table-top signs, business cards, name tags, tear-off flyers, invitations for the next party on Sunday, February 13th. I just wanted to share this information for those who might be interested in. You will be surprised by learning that some people who want to join in this great cause but do not know how to/where to start.  I hope this will help.

Cards for OWH - THINKING OF YOU...

THINKING OF YOU...

For the background of this card, I used Memorybox 6x6 paper collection - Sprout that I have been holding because I didn't want to cut as I loved it so much.  As it is, it made a beautiful background so I just cut out the letters with my Cricut machine and small hearts with MS Heart Confetti punch.  Love it!

Happy Retirement Janet!

Happy Retirement Janet!

After 34 years of service for the CA State, Janet Q. is retiring who is one of our OWH Cardmakers in my group. I made a huge card so that everyone can write his or her best wishes for Janet. I personalized it by putting her name on the card front.  I used Golden Pearl cardstock for the base and, Real Red for the layers. Patterned paper is from DCWV Premium Stacks.  I cut out the letters with my Cricut machine and the border punch from Stampin' Up!.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks for stopping by!

UPDATED:   I want to add what I shared at the Operation Write Home facebook.

The question was "What's your cardmaking goal for our heroes this year?"

Thanks very much for asking so that I can make it open and real!

Personally, I will make a card for the Operation Write Home for each comment on my blog posts. I will randomly pick a commenter at the end of every month for my blog candy. It's a small token of appreciation for your support for the Operation Write Home.

Publicly, I will keep hosting an OWH Cardmaking Party on every 2nd Sunday of the month at Elk Grove Grocery Outlet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with my OWH Cardmaking Group. We made about 1,500 cards in 2010 and we will make definitely make more with more new participants.

There is one more thing that I want to add. Since I love the Stampin' Up! products to make cards for heroes, I signed up as a demonstrator to get discounts. I am going to donate any sales profit from my Stampin' Up! website to the Operation Write Home towards their shipping cost. I hope this will not cause any conflicts with other Stampin' Up!demonstrators. Please let me know if you have any concerns.

The more I read our heroes "Heartfelt Thank You Notes to OWH Cardmakers", the more appreciation for their services grows. I do really believe that ""There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit"

Wishing you all a Happy and Blessed New Year!
